Car-sharing to a hotel?

I was just talking to my partner about car-sharing. I’m going on a visit to a council facility tomorrow and in the email they sent with information of how to get there it says they encourage car-sharing. However since they haven’t passed on the details of anyone else who is going it’s a bit difficult to obtain or offer a lift! My partner, who travels a lot for work, was telling me that some cities have special lanes for car-sharing, and some places such as business parks or conference centres have designated parking spaces for shared cars. The strangest thing is that apparently one hotel he has been to also has special parking for shared cars. Now no-one would drive to an out-of-town hotel unless they were going to stay there, so this means that in order to take advantage of the more convenient parking any single traveller is positively encouraged to take someone else to the hotel with them. Can you imagine cruising around the roads nearby: ‘Hello darlin’, fancy a night at a hotel with me’? Is this just encouraging promiscuity?? Since I don't have any appropriate photos I'm just going to use a pretty flower! All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2016.

I did read awhile back about car sharing. From what I remember, it is encouraged to help save money on gas and upkeep on vehicles.

Here it's encouraged to try and reduce the number of cars on the roads and to reduce pollution and carbon emissions.

@Fleura That is good to reduce the amount of cars on the road. One of the worst areas for grid lock during rush hour is Atlanta Georgia. Luckily we live 2 hours away from that, but I have family that travels each day in that type of traffic when coming home from work. It really is awful. Once we got stuck in it coming back from vacation and my husband and I both said, we didn't know how people endured it each work day. Atlanta Georgia could really benefit from car sharing.

@LeaPea2417 You're absolutely right, I don't know how people live like that, I'm very lucky in that apart from one 3-year period I have always managed to get a job close enough that I can cycle there!

Well, I suppose that when there are convention and some employees move to the same hotels those parking come handy. I love the beautiful Iris in your picture.

Hmm, maybe. Thanks, I never used to be a big fan of irises but recently I have come to love them.

@Fleura I always followed my husband in his business trip, in the US they said that, as we were two in the car, we were allowed to use the car sharing spaces and lanes. Weird, here surely not.

That is one beautiful iris! What lovely colours. And I was thinking the same. Car-share with your secretary maybe?

Hmmm, luckily my partner doesn't have a secretary or I'd be wondering...

That flower is alright, even if it does not have anything to do with your post. I loved the flower, it is my fave color.
