I didn't know how to keep apples from turning brown after you slice. My kids normally eat their apples right away but since my oldest goes to school it'll be a little bit before she gets to her apples. So the family I babysit for said if you put the apples in water with a little bit of lemon juice it'll help keep the apples from turning. It was something I didn't know.

@magallon she can eat a whole apple uncut but it wouldn't fit in her lunch box. She is 5 so I make her lunch for her and cut fruit if and when it's need. Yesterday she brought her lunch but had a banana since we didn't have apples in the house. apples don't last long in my house.

@ShyBear88 So it's better for her to peel it off when she gets home..

@ShyBear88 I'll have to ask my mom. I believe you wash the apples with some salt water

Did it work? And did it change the taste at all?

I haven't tried it yet but the family I babysit for the mom does it all of the time for her little one for lunch. He brings a packed lunch every day so soem times he has apples and I've never seen them go brown and he eats them like he would if I had an apple sliced it right on the spot.

@ShyBear88 I don't like the taste of the lemon juice on the apples takes away from the taste of the apple

That's a good idea. I had heard of sprinkling them with lemon juice but I think that might make them taste funny.

apparently it doesn't make them taste any different at all. In some apples it cuts down the sweetness.
