An Epiphany*

I was just thinking over my psyche earlier and had an epiphany. I was wondering what the reason was for my having to see certain shows each day and go along the same routine daily for the most part. I came to the conclusion that it is has to do with my anxiety. I hadn't thought about it before. (65 years of not thinking about it is a little weird) I used to have OCD and now I get that as well. So, anyway my take on it is this: When I have a routine and things go as expected it helps my anxiety and stress stay lower. If my anxiety level is high I need things to stick to the routine or it heightens my anxiety and I fall into chaos. Does that make sense? It's something like a new born baby feeling more calm wrapped in a tight blanket. Or the comfort in a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate. That sort of thing. I do so hate change. Now I understand why. *Note: For those who do not know what an epiphany is- it is a moment of sudden revelation or insight.

You would definitely hate my life. Things are chaotic and always changing. I really don't know how I don't have nervous breakdowns. I just go with the flow for the most part.

I really envy you. I love to just go with the flow. I worry if I don't have something to worry about.

@celticeagle you sound so much like me. Jennifer, when I was your age I was the same. so much easier to deal with those days.

I think you are correct. I have the same reaction to change. I like my routine day.

knew what it was just most times can't spell it. lol. also, I know what you mean by suddenly realizing that. I figured it out a while back how much change sets me in a bad way. used to not bother me but as I age it gets worse. poor coco I think that was what made her get worse also. I still feel guilty about having to change so much she had no time to adjust and I think it hastened her demise because I could not explain to her why

this is when it's good to force yourself to change 1 thing now and then, something small, to help keep this sort of thing from taking over. That being said, I have some of those things too to help me deal with my panic attacks and stuff

I do that as well. I guess I put it off on my daughter by asking her what she wants to do and then going with that.

That makes perfect sense. I tend to stay with the same routine as well. It's just more comfortable.

For the sake of your peace of mind...i hope things go as expected for you. Though a little bit of change does add the fun in life.

As I get older I noticed I like things done a certain way. For example when I'm grocery shopping and I go to the checkout, I put all my refrigerated things up at once, then all canned goods. If I buy several canned goods that are the same, they have to be together. I think in some ways I might have OCD as well. I also like a routine, unlike my husband. I too, suffer anxiety. I'm trying to be not so picky, I never use to be!

I think I have been this way for awhile but, perhaps, I was too busy to really realize it.
