File Explorer Quick Access in Windows 10 …. Removing files that will not let you delete. I was cleaning up my Quick access list in File explorer in Windows 10. I was able to remove all of the most recent folders and files that I most recently had looked at or opened up over several weeks and in doing so, I removed over 200 files that were actually short cuts to the original files, from Quick access but while doing this I was somehow unable to remove 5 files that were listed in the Windows 10 Quick access window. They were all .html files. They were mostly files I had saved from articles I wrote online that I saved a copy of to my computer as I always do. Here is basically what I had to do to remove 5 listed hyper text markup language files from Windows 10, Quick access that otherwise would not be removed from that list: There is a solution to removing references to files that are stubborn and for some reason will not delete from File Explorer’s Quick Access in Windows 10. I came across 5 files that were listed in Quick Access in my Windows 10 computer and no matter how many times I tried to just click on the file listed there and try to click on ‘remove from Quick access’ , I was unsuccessful so this is what I did to remedy the problem. 1. I first right clicked the listed file under Quick access then left clicked the option to ‘Open file location’ 2. Then I found the directory of that file and right clicked it and clicked on the option to ‘Copy’ that file 3. I placed the copy of this file onto my desktop. 4. I then renamed that file that was a duplicate of the original file referenced in Quick access 5. I then right clicked on the original file within it’s original file folder location 6. I left clicked on the ‘Delete’ option and the file was sent to the recycle bin 7. Finally I was able to delete the file from the recycle bin and went back to the Quick access pane and from there I was able to delete that specific file referenced in File Explorer. I was able to remove all 5 listed html documents from Quick access by simply copying each file that was listed from it’s original file folder and renamed the copied file on the desktop then it was easy for me to delete the original file and thus remove the listing from Windows 10 Quick access. The fundamental fact that this even happened suggests that a Heuristic or other Rouge type of virus may have done some work by trying to prevent File explorer from removing certain files so that a hacker might be able to gain access to files that the user actually thought were secured. Running a registry cleanup and removing temporary files and running a virus scanning program is a good idea when there is any doubt about your own privacy and security in your Windows PC. Anyway, no matter what caused the issue, I was able to fix it by copy, then paste in a new location, renaming the file then deleting the original and finally removing the file from the list in Quick Access. One more thing, My browser's download manager remembers the file folder that I download all of my articles from a particular writing site so that whenever I visit a particular site that I write on, I can download it in my browser to a file that is managed so that all files go to the same location from a specific URL address. Sometimes, however, the download manager doesn't work properly and some files are actually downloaded to a file folder that was not originally designated for that web address and thus end up in an alternate file folder or on my Default File Downloads folder in Windows 10 until I correct this error by setting the location manually thus correcting the misdirection of downloaded files. This may be a bug of the download manager in my particular web browser.

Sometimes windows 10 does not delete the files. in such case I use file and folder locker.
