Dinner for my birthday

The roomie had been promising me a steak for my birthday. Then today she added in my other favorite restaurant, Albors, the Persian place. "Chose which one you want to go to," she said. We waited until after I took my 3rd dose of antibiotics, and then said: "Lets go to TLC." TLC is our code for Texas Land and Cattle, they do TxLC, but that "x" is harder to add. So, its dark already, and we get there and the place is dark. No exterior lights AT ALL. And its hard to see the inside lights from the outside. I get out and go make sure they really are open - they are. I go back to the car to get my coat and purse, and the roomie of course. Then we go in. "Two for dinner?" the perky young man at the front asks. "Ya know," I drawl in my not so good Texas accent (no, I'm not faking it, I just still sound like a D*mned Yankee despite spending over 61 years in Texas and saying my first words here) "ya might get some more customers if you turn on your outside lights." "They aren't on?" he asked. He sounded a bit aghast that they aren't. "Nope," I said. "We thought you weren't open because they weren't on," the roomie added. "I'll have to check on that," he said. We sat down. There were, maybe, 6 other parties in the place when we got there. By the time we left, the place was filling up. As we went by the front, the young man thanked us for letting him know about the lights. Apparently, even the manager hadn't known they weren't on.
