Last night M and I decided to do a movie marathon and opted to rent the movies that we have missed during the year.
Lady in the Van was one of them and after watching it, so many questions have come to mind. Do the British allow people to squat in their driveways for 15 years?
I love Maggie Smit and she plays her part to honourable perfection. The movie has some brilliant intellectual moments that Bennett has enhanced between the flavorful life of Mary Shepard - for her LIFE did have a colourful sense with the descriptive dreary UK backdrop.
Strange but true - this movie is not for everyone, but I LOVED it. My photo of the little 3 wheeler felt just fitting for this post.
Have you seen it?

The so called "Squatter's rights" in England and Wales are referenced in the section 6 of the Criminal Law Act 1977. This section has been widely used by squatters in England and Wales, as it makes it a crime to force entry, as long as the squatters are physically present. Every country has different laws concerning squatters.

One of our stupid laws Anna. If someone breaks into your house while you are out you can not force them out which is ridiculous you have to go through the courts to evict them which is long and protracted. Personally for those who have broken in I would like to punch the living day lights out of them.

@garymarsh5 @LadyDuck This does seem a very stupid law. Maybe I should research Australia's laws in this regard.

@garymarsh6 It's not only one of your stupid laws, because this is the same in Italy. Yesterday in Naples someone has demolished the wall separating his apartment from the one of his neighbor. The neighbor was not at home and now he has to go through the courts. This is crazy.

Maggie Smith is one of our finest actresses and is so clever in portrayal of characters. She is amazing and would have really brought something to the film. There are a few odd bods who live like this. I guess every country have their own odd bods some through no fault of their own!

@garymarsh6 I read that Judi has macular degeneration (I think that's what it was) and can no long read her scripts. The article said her daughter reads them to her and helps her learn them.
