Me too. Although I am not sure how this algorithm works with the Time differences.

If you look at it another way, when the OP doesn't comment on the responses, it is they who are losing out because the essence of a discussion is that the OP comments and then receives further comments back.
You will usually find that people who post discussions and then don't 'maintain' them or try to 'discuss' will eventually receive fewer responses to their discussions and so will not do so well as those who involve themselves in both their own and other people's discussions.

@Gita17112016 You mean a new discussion on the same topic? As long as it's not too obviously a rehash of someone else's discussion and introduces a different angle on the same subject (and is altogether a 'better' discussion), there's nothing to say you can't do that.

Actually, I agree. Sometimes the effort is too much after about 5 comments. So I was wondering if it is allowed to start a new thread? What do you think?

I do more responding and more comments on posts than on anything. i always hope that people earn from my comments as I try to write lengthy ones.

We have not been interacting much these days. And yes if you are doing that hopefully members will love you for it.

I am only talking about those who are not out of topic. Good that you contribute positively here.

I always go back to those who commented on my posts and also comments back to the responses to my comments on their posts , if i still have something to say .
Usually , comments on my posts becomes long because we get to have a really nice exchange of comments even if both are not online at the same time .

If a user does not post his comments, he is going to lose in terms of money and friends.
When I start a post, I do not mind who has responded, whether the user is follower or not. To me a meaningful response matters more than the fact, who has responded.

@allknowing - Yes, you are very right
. However, sometimes users get busy in their offline commitments and they make delays in posting their comments on responses . Meaningful comments on a response could take the interaction further.

@dpk262006 That is certainly expected but my point was that if there are no comments responders do not earn

A comment on the response earns for the responder and in all fairness therefore they should comment on the response and take it further if the discussion is capable of producing such interaction.

Only when someone comments that the responder earns. One needs to keep this in mind.

@Hatley Yes, everyone may be busy or catching up on notifications but for the most part people will respond or interact

@infatuatedbby Since myLot has this rule where you earn only if others contribute then it is kind of an onus for us all to give back.

This is a discussion site and therefore if the OP does not comment on the responses, everyone stands to lose.

Actually by our responding others earn. It is nice that we help others earn.

@DianneN In the good old myLot the slogan was 'We type we earn' It has now changed. When we respond or comment others earn and not we (lol) This comment for example I have made will give you fraction of a cent (lol)

Interaction is key here and we all need to follow that pattern as a rule.

Not fair. But sometimes consider, we are opposite sides of the world. It takes me about 12-24 hours before I can respond. Sometimes the notifications get mixed up...also, no current, no internet services etc. I like to give the other person some leeway. But to those who don't reach back, I just ignore them. Greener pastures...
