I Need Zinc!

Yesterday, I spent an inordinate amount of time coughing and hacking. I attributed this to smoking too much, because I did smoke more than I should have. This morning, however, I can feel it. I'm coming down with a cold. My girlfriend was in the hospital last week, and came home with a cold, so it's only natural that I would get it too. Time to get some zinc! I swear by the stuff. I've been using zinc to fight colds for years, as it boosts your immune system. According to the article below, it won't ward off a cold, but is very effective in fighting the cold once you have it. It also seems to help my tattoo's heal faster. Just make sure to eat something when you take it, because you'll feel extremely nauseous if you don't.
Zinc is often touted as a way to fight colds. But while research suggests it does work, there are some caveats.

I guess there is more than one way to fight a cold. I have never tried zinc, although I normally do take it anyway because it is in the multivitamin I take.

I would guess that your multi vitamin should have enough in it.

Doesn't Zinc have other benefits? I should check what they are.

@teamfreak16 I checked the multi I take everyday. It says 100% daily for zinc.

I like to keep a supply of anti cold meds and supplements at home... just in case

There is a lot in my multi-vitamin too. I rarely get colds, can go years without one, but will keep zinc in mind.
