Diary Wednesday 30th November 2016

The end of the penultimate month of 2016 and Advent Eve as well as being Saint Andrew’s Day in Scotland.
Work-wise it was quite routine though work was visibly running out with far too many of us assigned to each duty before we were all sent home two hours early. One big mystery was solved. If you read my diary entry for yesterday you’ll see that
management reported an ongoing investigation into one staff-member’s stolen phone. Today we found out the phone owner had the phone all the time, having failed to notice it had ended up in his sandwich box instead of its usual location in his pocket – it was all a nasty wild goose chase. No apologies were offered to the staff for treating us all like criminals.
I headed to my bank to send my rent off to my landlord/landlady and I again queried why my internet banking system isn’t working and why a new password I was promised hasn’t materialized. After over an hour of going through my account details my bank-assistant discovered the bank has mis-registered my year of birth as 1952 instead of 1962, an error they have maintained for over a decade, but which seemed to be the key to my internet access problems as that depends on my adding my date of birth every use and I was putting in the right year, not the wrong one. This has now been amended.
With my final welfare payment now received just days before my first week’s wages I bought the first Xmas presents I’ll be giving out this year and treated myself to a cheap bread-toaster which I put to work as soon as I arrived home. No doubt I’ll be toasting bread for some time before the novelty wears off.

Sounds like a rather interesting day. Got some things accomplished. That is always good. Too bad this company you work for couldn't have been nicer in this situation but hat is over and done. Glad you got to the bottom of the bank situation.

@arthurchappell ....Really. I find it so convenient to be able to check my balance and to have it available to me online. Keep it secure though.

@Jessicalynnt unlikely they will lay us off entirely until the week before Christmas but I wouldn't be surprised by more reduced hours

Now you sound like my hubby. If there is nothing else to eat he toasts up a storm. Toast with jam, with butter, plain toast and his all time favorite toast with cheese.

Time wasted AND they added a decade to your age. Nice!
If the management couldn't apologise about the phone incident then maybe its owner could have done. But then maybe he was too busy trying to clean mayonnaise out of it.

@asfarasiknow yes, he could have said something - he caused a lot of stress - how management reacted when he told them is anyone's guess - they stopped production completely for ten minutes for the theft meeting over it so they won't be happy with him

If I lost my phone, I would like to check all of my belongings before I said stolen.

@teamfreak16 me too - I would have to really rule out all other possibilities before making such serious accusations

You'll be pleased to have the error fixed. Fancy it being wrong for a decade. Vince has toast every morning and I just love the smell.
