Ruby watched the news and I'm in trouble

December 6, 2016 7:32am CST
There was a segment on the news the other day about how much money pet owners spend at Christmas. Ruby's ears perked up when she heard that so now I am in trouble. According to the 'experts', pet owners will spend an average of $62 dollars on those gifts under the tree for Fido. Ruby knows that her gifts are 'hidden' in our master closet. She does check several times a day to see if I put them under the tree yet. I think she wants to make sure we spend $62 on her gifts! So just to keep peace and in order not to see a lab cry, we will have to make a run to the local pet shop and get the total jacked up a little! Photo is mine - Christmas a few years ago. She likes to help open things!

@Asylum I don't have an iPhone and her feet are too big for the computer keys!

Of course, and those presents are all wrapped and hidden away! A dog can never have too many tennis balls, frisbees and treats!

Ruby is such a smart dog. I have to go out and buy something for Willy, or he will never "talk" to me again.

@AbbyGreenhill NO, this is something I could not stand. I went down only five minutes ago because he was calling. It's cold right now, I wonder why he does not stay inside near the fireplace.

@LadyDuck Cats are independent so if you think he should be warm by the fire he's outside doing what he wants to do.

She loves opening presents. She hears the UPS truck a mile away and waits by the door - she thinks every box that comes here is hers!

I need to get mine another kong toy and maybe a new antler. most toys just cannot survive long in the jaws of the nibbler.

@AbbyGreenhill yeah, I have to be sure he has bigger ones. He killed a toy last night, so I really do need to get him another at some point

What a cute picture! Ruby is one smart cookie and I'm sure she'll have her calculator out on Christmas morning to make sure her gifts total $62. Thankfully our dogs missed that segment on the news

What she seems to have forgotten is her new bed is part of her Christmas present although we put it to use a few weeks ago. That's over $62 right there...maybe I need to have a chat with her LOL.

Ruby will be happy. My daughter bought the three cats some toys. She couldn't wait and opened them the same day. The cats are unimpressed by them unless she interacts with them. Funny. Kids that don't know how to play with their toys.

@AbbyGreenhill .....The one cat took all the toys out and played with them the other night. They are adults too now but revert back at times.

That is a bit high, isn't it? We have many pets-imagine what some might spend if they followed that?

I am sure there are people who spend way more than that! What Ruby gets other than her tennis balls and frisbees are treats - big bags and those we would buy anyway...so she is stocked up for now.
