Heading Back to Work After Having Three Days off

I'm getting ready to go back to work this afternoon as my hand is almost back to normal. There is no more swelling on my hand or fingers but sections are still tender if I put weight on it. It took the weekend off because I do use my hand to pull the products people purchase over the scanner and it would have been quite difficult to accomplish that with my hand swollen and barely bending. I'm having a late breakfast before heading out. My meal is one piece of bacon, two eggs sunny side up and one piece of toast. I didn't eat much the day that I fainted and some think it's because I didn't get enough nourishment. I don't normally eat much if anything before going to work since I do eat on each of my breaks and at lunch. But maybe my body is trying to tell me something, so I've been trying to eat a little in the mornings again. I got a lot accomplished today and on Sunday and was going to tell about it here but will save that for another day, maybe.

I hope I do too. It's always hard going back after the normal two days off let alone an extra day or two.

@MarshaMusselman the days off over the weekend will be good for relaxing your hand again - best not to do too much at once

Today I had a bowl of oatmeal. Thought about eggs, but I didn't want to take the extra time today.

That is such a pretty picture! Glad you're better and back to work. I hope that by adjusting your eating routine that you won't faint again. Take care!

I don't know that it was due to not eating much at all otherwise you'd think I'd be feeling that way each and every day since I don't always eat a lot early. I think it may have been a combination of things going on at that time. I may never know, but once I talk with my doctor about it, I may know more or not we'll have to wait and see.

Thank you, I will and I plan on paying attention to my body more since I don't need to repeat what happened on Friday.

I did fine. My hand and fingers are still tender to do certain things, but at least they work for what I need at my job. I've found it's hard to use that hand to tuck in my shirt. There's a bit of a strain where the fingers meet the hand, but I'm hopeful that will heal too as time goes on. I'm still putting ice on it at night.

@just4him No, and I don't plan on it at present. I've been to my doctor twice last month for the ulcer on my leg and now I've been twice to the vein doctor for the same ailment. Each of those visits will cost me a copay and I still owe money for the vein bleed I had last July, not to mention the copay for seeing the knee doctor and a few others. If my hand wasn't healing it would still be hurting and swollen. I will check it out if it doesn't progress fast enough, but each day it's better. I will probably be borrowing from family to pay bills for a portion of the winter, so I don't want to have even more that I'd need their help on. I can make a fist now whereas a couple of days ago I couldn't.

@MarshaMusselman Have you gone to the doctor at all to get it checked or X-rayed?

I'm glad your hand is getting better. I have to eat within an hour of waking up or I start feeling shaky and nauseous.

I'm glad to hear that your hand is improving. One meal I never skip is breakfast. Then if I need to I can last until supper.
