I need some techie advice....

Part of our yard is fenced (to keep Ruby safe) and that includes a gate across the driveway. We have an automatic electric gate opener (to make life easy!) A few times a while ago we found the gate open and talked with the company and they said a truck went by and must have interfered with outr signal. They had my husband change the signal and so far it hasn't happened again. But I don't trust it. Therefore, every morning (usually 5 or 5:30 am) I have to walk outside with Ruby just to make sure the gate is closed. That's fine in nice weather but it was 31 this morning!! We want to get a camera that is pointed at that gate - I want to be able to use my computer or tablet or whatever to check from the warmth of my home to see if the gate is closed. I don't want a motion sensor camera...I have found many of them online. I want a camera that is on all the time but no motion involved. Any ideas, suggestions, information, website site link, is greatly appreciated. Thanks in avance

Check on Amazon, they have many, look at the characteristic, and then you can shop where you like. Most of those camera are wireless and have a night sensor. I have seen one around $40 that looks good enough to keep an eye on your gate.

@AbbyGreenhill I also would buy the most simple than they have. I think that it's important that it's wireless so you do not have to mess with cables.

I am not very techy =( We have a Q-See camera, it records during motion and you can view live too if you need to check =) You can view on the app on your phone when on the go! And online. But now there are so many new brands to pick from!

@AbbyGreenhill Oh I see! Haha yeah - I always chat with the online rep to help me virtually set up when I have any issues.

not sure, but I bet there are nanny cam type things that would work fine, or something that at least read on your phone if the gate had a closed connection or not, deff too cold to be walking that right now

An automatic electric door opener with a remote control makes life easier, but it is not something secure, because it offers a very low number of combinations, 4096 max if I remember. No, a truck cannot open it, a radio amateur in your neighborhood can perhaps do it by accident, but a burglar with the right toy can certainly do it in less than 10 seconds, so you should better come back to a normal lock.

The lock isn't to keep anyone out - there are two other gates w/o locks. This is to keep the dog in. The house is well protected from anyone trying to break in.

No not hiring anyone - I have a husband who can install one, we just need to know which one to buy.

something simple like a web cam can be used with wifi connectivity to your device.
