Rough Night

Well I had a really tough night trying to sleep. My son kept climbing out of his crib so I ultimately just made him sleep next to me while I sat on the couch. After a few hours he woke up and refused to go back to sleep. We ended up bringing him into the bed with us. As usual when he is in the bed with us I was on the edge of the bed and decided to just la upside down on the bed to give me some more room for my top half. I could not fully fall asleep because I was so uncomfortable and constantly changing positions to keep my son comfortable. I tried once he had fallen asleep to put him in his crib but he was conscious enough to know where I was taking him and refused to let go of me so he could lay in his crib. So the whole night I didn't get much sleep. I am exhausted and my head is starting to hurt. I am hoping to get a nap in a few along with my son.
What was the worst night of sleep, or lack there of, that you have ever experienced?

If your son is climbing out of his crib it's time for a toddler bed. He might hurt himself otherwise. If you can buy a bed, put the mattress on the floor. My worst nights also involved my children. I used to run to my son every time he cried and he knew it but I was expecting his brother and it was important he sleep through the night. I had to let him cry it out for a few minutes, reassure him, cry some more for a little longer, go reassure him, then longer. Within an hour he went to sleep and the next night he only cried once. After that if he woke up he would put himself back to sleep unless he was sick and then of course I would comfort him. It was a horrid experience for me but I hear all children go through it.
Then when he started climbing out of his crib I put a child proof knob on his door so he could not just walk out of his room. That was another fight! But he quickly got used to it and when he could understand he had to stay in his room unless something was wrong I took the child knob cover off.
Those were the 2-4 worst nights of sleep I can remember.

I'm sorry you didn't get much sleep. My worst night of sleep was when Julian was admitted into the hospital when he had a UTI. They thought at first he was having kidney failure-thank God that was not the case. I slept on the little chair in his room but whenever he made a noise of any kind I was back up. He was only a couple weeks old.
