Day 97
Proverbs 14:14
Proverbs 14:14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
15 The simple believes every word: but the prudent man looks well to his going.
16 A wise man fears, and departs from evil: but the fool rages, and is confident.
17 He that is soon angry deals foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
You all know them. They’re the ones you shake your head at wondering when they will learn common sense, when will they start doing things the right way instead of their way, which never works, when will they stop being so gullible with everything that is said or happens around them, when will anger stop dictating their lives. You hope, but you rarely see any change in them.
Solomon studied human behavior with everyone he saw daily and he came to one conclusion – people who did their own things didn’t get far in their lives, but those who did right, living their lives after God’s ordinances, went far and found that those who did their own thing were subject to those who lived righteous lives.
When Jesus lived among the people, he taught them through parables they could understand because he taught them through common things in their lives to show how God wanted them to live their lives.
As Christians, when you live according to the simple message of the gospel, trusting and believing that God will take care of your every need, you will live a righteous life in tune with God, and people will naturally gravitate to you because you have what they don’t have. Though you will come in contact with scoffers and those who think there is more than one way to get ahead in life.
Jesus said he was the door, the only way, the bridge between us and God and when we put our faith and trust in him, we will have what he offers – eternal life.
John 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. (KJV)
John 14:6 Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.
A prudent person is wise to the ways of God and will always do what God requires of him. A wicked person will never do what is right in anyone’s eyes but his own. Which kind of person are you – wise and prudent or one who does his own thing?
Let’s pray: Father, help me look to your ways and not my own. Help me listen to you because your way is the best way, the only way. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Paul was a zealous servant of God and yet at times he found himself with little. He even at times lacked food and clothing. Still he remained faithful! He did not die from any of these things. (Philippians 4:12; 2 Corinthians 11:27)

I have often wondered that as well, but I can honestly say, they are not doing anything wrong. God might be testing them to see how well they handle their finances. I was poor most of my life. My finances at the moment are better than they ever have been.
