Locally a man walked out of a Walmart with a cart overflowing with about $1000 in merchandise he hadn't paid for. He was encountered by a female store employee who he pulled a gun on. He is being sought after by Meridian police.
Can you believe it? Would this be termed as a armed robbery?

I worked a summer as a guard in a superstore when I was a student, and you would not imagine the number of people trying to do this. More the caddy is big and more they have a chance. When I was at the main access I was seeing one person trying to take it the wrong way every 2 or 3 days, sometimes with things like TVs or sound systems. I was telling them politely that they had to go to a cashier first. The cart was often found abandoned later in the store. It works rarely, but when it works, the robber wins the jackpot.
As he was out, I am not sure that technically it is armed robbery. But it is certainly something

The mentality is that he is a big risk taker. Narcissistic personality probably.

i think technically it might be-he'll be even more screwed if it was actually loaded.
sometimes you can bargain in court because it shows it was for intimidation purposes.

It's really unbelievable some people have that courage.

Oh my goodness, that is terrifying. I don't think it is considered an armed robbery, but he was armed (and if he doesn't have a permit well...he is also screwed) and he did hold someone up. That is terrifying though. this time of year is the worst to be a store worker.
