Day 100
Proverbs 14:23
Proverbs 14:23 In all labor there is profit: but the talk of the lips tends only to penury.
When a person owns a business, they expect to make a profit from it. Employees also hope to be able to earn enough so they aren’t living hand to mouth. However, when a person tells trade secrets about their work, they soon find themselves without a job and no one hiring them because of their duplicity.
Despite the despicableness of men telling their enemies battle plans, every king, even Solomon, sought those who would be willing to sell out their king. It was a common practice. It was a common practice that those who were found to be traitors to the throne also lost their lives.
It’s the same today. Traitors get the death sentence. They aren’t just sent to Leavenworth.
In your Christian walk, your work too needs to be above reproach, whether you are working for an employer or working for God’s kingdom. There have been several stories in the news in the past about ministers who took the money their congregations gave them, and used it for their own purposes, getting wealthy off the money they received and not putting it towards the purpose they stated. Reports have also surfaced about criminal behavior among pastors, priests, and church members. Your lives should be above reproach. You should exemplify your walk in Jesus Christ, not be like the rest of the world. Satan relishes that kind of behavior among the saints.
If you look like the world, you will not be able to win souls for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Examine your life to see if there is any wicked way in you, just as David prayed.
Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (KJV)
When your life resembles your Christian walk, then you will be a good witness for Jesus Christ.
Let’s pray: Father, help me live my life above reproach for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let my words and my actions be honorable in all things. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
