Packers Football

Football doesn't get any better than the Packers and Bears. The oldest rivalry in football. We were ahead. They tied. We moved ahead. End first half. Second half, we had a fantastic third quarter, moved ahead 17 points. Fourth quarter - they moved ahead and wiped out the 17 point lead to tie with a minute plus left in the game. Aaron Rodgers threw to Jordy Nelson for a sixty yard catch. We are in field goal range, Crosby kicks it, they call a time out. Crosby kicks again and the Packers win 30-27. It was a nail biter, shouting screaming second half. And the good news for the Pack - the Lions lost to New York - they still are first in the division. Minnesota also lost to the Colts and the Packers are now in second place in the division with playoff hopes still alive. I'm exhausted after that arm chair/recliner shouting match. It could have been a better game as we did drop 4 balls that would have been 28 points, but we can't think about the woulda coulda shoulda's. Especially when they were playing in frigid temps in Chicago. It wasn't as cold in Chicago as it is in Green Bay, with 10 F there, while we're -4 with wind chills in the -20's. They were only -5 wind chill. Wind chill is still wind chill and does affect how the game is played and did contribute to those dropped balls. However, we did get 4 turnovers for those 17 points against the Bears. The good news is the Packers won in a game that looked like it was going into overtime, but didn't. Packers move to 8-6, while the Bears are 3-11. Saturday we play Minnesota and then we play Detroit in the last game on January 1. Those games will decide where we stand in the playoffs. The Pack needs to win these last two games. That will put us on top of the division or tied with Detroit if they win next week. There are just two games left in the regular season. It will be interesting to see who all will be in the playoffs and who will ultimately go to the Super Bowl. Of course I hope we go all the way. These next two games will decide our playoff chances. GO PACK GO! Playoff's here we come! Okay, that was my day. I have a pot roast in the slow cooker and now I'm here with you. Our current temp is 1 F with a wind chill of -12 F. How was your day? Thanks for reading.

Sounds like quite the exciting game. Pot roast sounds good. Your team may get to the playoffs yet. Do you have yours with horseradish? So yummy!

@celticeagle I'll just need to disagree with that one. Not a Seahawks fan.

No horseradish. It was delicious. I just finished my second plate. I hope we go to the playoffs.

A classic rivalry. I grew up in Chicago, but have never been to Green Bay.

Yes, we are the oldest rivalry in the NFL, this was also our last game we won. No playoffs for Green Bay this year. There's always next year.

@just4him Rivalries are good for football. The 49ers finished strong with that new QB from New England. I hope they're decent next season. Not sure what happened to da Raiders.

@TheHorse Not sure if you meant the Packers, but I hope they'll be in good form next year. We don't need another season like this one was.

I don't know how you understand football, I certainly do not. You might as well talk Greek to me.

It wasn't always like that. But since I am such a Packers fan, I watched what was going on with all the penalty signs of the referees and everything else on the field as well. It took time. I also grew up in a sports family. Football, baseball, and NASCAR so you get used to it after a while.
