It is a short work day, only four hours, but I had carefully avoided volunteering to work that day. No reason really, my daughter won't be here until Christmas day. So, the store owner, Barbara called yesterday. Her sister from Los Angeles will be in town, so would I possibly be available?
Well, I was and I will be. We had no plans that day really, so why not do a favor? I was drafted.

They have been without power for seven days and Dan's health is rather poor. He is several years younger than I, but has many problems.
