Stupid Road Obstacles

At the end of the street next to my house, there is a turn, with a two-way traffic, and a wide chicane in the middle. To pass that chicane, I must either drive onto it (which is bad for my car) or drive to the far left, where traffic is going the other way. But that means I will have to wait until that road is clear. Going around it, would not be an option, especially with cars parked on the side where I am supposed to turn. If the purpose of this chicane is to force drivers on both lanes to pass one at the time, then it is stupid. Both cars could easily pass, if that chicane didn't exist. And there is no need to use it to slow cars down, as it is built on a bend where people drive slowly anyways. Are there such unnecessary road obstacles in your area?
