I know, go figure. Magic Johnson is #1 in my Favorite Lakers Players series. You were expecting Vlade Divac, perhaps?
Most commonly known as "Magic," Earvin Johnson played 13 seasons in the NBA, all of them with the Lakers. And oh what a 13 years! Magic was a five time NBA Champion, a three time NBA Finals MVP, three time NBA MVP, a 12 time All Star, four time NBA Assists Leader, the All Time NBA Playoffs Assists Leader, and so on and so on. Magic was named to the NBA 50th Anniversary All Time Team, and is in both the Basketball and College Basketball Halls of Fame. His #32 has been retired by the Lakers.
And the Red Hot Chili Peppers named a song after him!
In his career, Magic Johnson scored 17,707 points, dished out 10,141 assists, and pulled down 6,559 rebounds. He also twice led the league in steals.
What can I say? Magic was the most exciting, most fun player I've ever watched (I got to watch him play in person just once. When the Showtime Lakers came to Denver, Nuggets tickets were impossible to get.) He has as outgoing of a personality as you're ever going to see, and a smile that can cheer up an entire arena. As far as I'm concerned, Magic is the best and point guard ever (John Stockton? Please.)
Thanks for the memories, Magic!

What I like about Magic is his passing abilities I mean his sick no look passes are crazy and also he knows how to set the tone for his team and fix their composure when they are under pressure. He is one of the players in the nba who knows how to make his teammates better. He knows his role and he knows how to not play individually. Great team chemistry when he is on the floor.

He always knew where Worthy was, even when he wasn't looking!

Magic just isn't the greatest point guard ever but one of the 10 greatest players ever. I have read it is Magic who is considered the best all around talented basketball player ever because he could every position. Jordan couldn't play center. LeBron can handle the ball but really isn't a floor commander dictating the cation. If I had to begin a dream fantasy team, he's my #1 pick.

I agree. I loved it when he played center for Kareem.

Lakers VS Celtics. Those were fun games. Magic and Larry Bird wrote a book together called When the Game was Ours. Really good.
