Day 109
Proverbs 14:33
Proverbs 14:33 Wisdom rests in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
I was always told not to tell everything I knew and what happened in the family stayed in the family. I’m sure many of you were told the same thing. Yet there are people ready for any bit of juicy gossip they can get, and the scandal sheets are full those bits of gossip, whether true or not and mostly they aren’t.
Solomon knew who he could trust with the important matters of the kingdom, and whom he couldn’t trust. He put a label on both kinds of people, those who were wise and those who were fools.
It isn’t in just what is said or not said, but your actions as well. Those who are wise will act with wisdom in everything they do, and those who are foolish will wait and procrastinate until they seek people who had more wisdom than they did regarding what needed to be done.
People of wisdom are people of action, and fools are lazy, expecting everyone to do their work for them, and will often take the credit for the work they didn’t do.
Jesus told a parable about those who are wise and those who aren’t.
Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes.
As Christians, you need to live your life with wisdom, doing the work of the kingdom of God and not expecting someone else to do what God called you to do. Then when Jesus returns for his church, his bride, he won’t tell you he never knew you.
Let’s pray: Father, help me be wise in everything I do and not expect someone else to do what you called me to do. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
