My Network Printer vs My USB WIRED printer, that is the question.

My network printer is an HP which stands for the brand name Hewlett Packard.
It was easy to use back when I was running Windows 7 and it was physically connected to my USB port on the back of my Tower.
This is what happened ...
I ran out of space on the desk top for the printer and had to place it farther away from my desktop computer. It turns out, I had no idea that the printer had wireless abilities at first. I usually connected all of my peripherals via USB connections.
It was just that I found out that I had a chance to make my printer connect via the WiFi as a network printer. But using it as a network printer, although it is now capable of printing documents from a command from any mobile device I may use at any location on the planet seemed intriguing and at first I liked this idea.
But after all is said and done and experience is 20/20, I think I may just go back to using my printer as a WIRED peripheral that only prints to my PC.
The reason is simple actually. There is no reason for me to print anything on my printer to email or network. Why would I want to scan for instance, a document like a register receipt for a new car battery with a 3 year limited warranty via my email inbox instead of just printing it directly? Why would I want anyone else to have a copy of it?
I have to say, using the printer like that would have to be secondary and that meaning I would have a better bit of security by having 2 separate computers with one Wired and the other Network, (wireless). I would use the network printer for printing documents I scan using a smartphone like scanning a cash register receipt while at a Sam's club and for doing document printing at home, only use the Wired printer connected to a secure PC that is also Wired, not Wireless.
Does anyone else feel this is a good thing or am I just behind the times?
I have my Photsmartf HP Premium Printer hooked up to my Compaq desktop computer via a USB connection. I also have a HP laptop with wireless and wonder if I can hook it up to the Printer using the wireless connection? Can I use both types of connectivity

I think unless you are techy setting your printer up to be wireless just adds another complication. My Epson printer is wireless, but I haven't used it for a while. I had to call support a few times with it, because it kept goofing up. Also, those cartridges got very expensive to buy.

Yes the cartridges are expensive and I only print in gray scale. I also try to make sure I clear my printer cache if I have a pending document in in queue and not enough ink to print it. Also I think having a separate scanner might be best to be wired only to the pc. I will think on this a bit. I wonder if a basic scanner is available by HP? Hmm.
