Hubby asked me if it was possible to make slow cooker scalloped potatoes. I told him I was sure it was possible.
So I look up a recipe, gather my ingredients, and begin slicing the potatoes on a box slicer with various blades.
I sliced the tip of my thumb, up by the nail, rather severely.
I have been fighting the bleeding and avoiding getting it soaked in water all day.
The food smells alright, but does not really look great and is not living up to my expectations as far as appearance goes. I will not use this recipe again.
I WILL get a mandolin style slicer that has a grip for the object being sliced.
I need kitchen stuff for late Christmas.
Of course the food cannot be too bad, it has added onion and garlic, potatoes and a thick cheesy sauce.
We will have a salad and shredded roast pork with it. It is all good, I am sure.

The sauce it had me make would have gone well on mac and cheese, but hubby does not eat macaroni. This was tasty with shredded pork on top and we got six meals out of it.

@GardenGerty That is good that you got 6 meals out of it. Sucks that your hubby don't like macaroni my ex was the same way so I did not make lots of things because he did not like them.

You made me say ouch. I have sliced off a bit of my little pinky with a plain, sharp knife so I know how bad your cut was. To get all of the dirt or whatever might be in the wound out it is a good idea to soak in some hydrogen peroxide.

It was not a dirty cut. Main thing is that I am having a hard time getting the bleeding to stay stopped.

I bought a new slicer that has a hand guard. I always enjoy my meals, it seems.

I was able to take off the bandaids, and wash some dishes and here I am typing. It hurts but I generally heal quickly and I know it will be better tomorrow.

@GardenGerty That's good. I don't heal that quickly, usually a couple days.

Me too, as I feel so awkward while it heals. I know I am going to get one with a grip to use with it.

I also did a homemade scalloped potato tonight, and put some leftover Christmas ham in it. I did not do the crockpot, I started it when I got home from work.
Sorry about your finger, I hope it heals quickly!

I always go by the ingredients one uses in a recipe. Yours seem tasty ingredients and so whatever you have churned out should taste good.

Oh my! How's the thumb? That happened to me too. My mom can't stop shaking her head because she thinks I am not being careful on how I handle my kitchen utensils. Thing is it is hard to really get used to kitchen equipment when you are left-handed. It takes a while for me to get the hang of it.
Good to know the food is okay even if it did not reach your expectations. As long as its edible. But yes, don't use that recipe again.

Make sure you have medications when you cut yourself, and watch out what you cut.

Ouch!!! I can feel your pain from here.
Its sometimes hard for the ends of our fingers, or thumb to heal at this time of the year as our skin is starting to dry out, I hope that isn't the case for you.
When that happens to me I get out the little bottle of liquid skin and dab a bit of that on and a few days later it will join together on its own.

I have hurt my thumb badly and had to get stitches before. More than twenty years ago.

Don't say you won't make the recipe again until you taste it. I saw a slow cooker recipe for scalloped potatoes and would have considered it had I not needed the slow cooker for another recipe. However, I got a newer, bigger slow cooker for Christmas so now I have two.

Sorry to hear about your thumb. That sounds quite a bad cut and in an awkward place.

ouch! Hope you are not in too much pain?
