We started our annual New Year's Eve John Wayne Marathon with McLintock this year. It is one of my missus' favorites. Now we are watching Donovan's Reef. It is my younger son's favorites. This should take us nearly to midnight.
Tomorrow, while relaxing around the house, we'll watch The Quiet Man, and probably Hatari. The Quiet Man is one of my favorites. I'd love to move into a cottage near an Irish village and spend the rest of my years writing, though that is not what the Duke's character does.
How are you/did you spend New Year's Eve? I know for many of my myLot friends it is already New Year's Day.
Either way, may I wish you all a Very Happy New Year!

I should have sent my husband to your house - he could watch westerns all day long.

@DWDavis I can honestly say I've never seen any of them. My husband has probably seen them all.

A few years ago I sat up all New Year's Eve watching a Planet of the Apes marathon.

See, people get this misconception of me that I am some liberal hippy. I love John Wayne and pretty much all of his movies. I just do not think the John Wayne types make good Presidents. All though, think he may have been way more diplomatic than some of the people we have now or will have running the show. Also I did serve in the Marines and needed to get that off my chest.
Take that Liberal Hippy that Haters!

@DWDavis Now there is a freaking compliment. See, 2016 was not so bad. Great, now I sound like Donald Trump.
Thanks brother. Happy New Year.

@CoralLevang Were you asking me or @crossbones27? I served in the Army from 1982 to 1986 and in the reserves from 86-88. I was at Ft Lewis in 83 and most of 84, and then in Korea until I was released from active duty in 1986.

I never pictured you as a liberal hippy. My image was more that of a tough on the outside, good hearted on the inside, biker type. While I love John Wayne's movies, I have no illusions he would have been a good president. I don't think he would have entertained the idea.

I ran into a WW2 veteran yesterday. The poor guy was barely able to stand in line at the register, shopping for a New Year family get together. He told me he was happy to make it one more year and said friends & family and sharing good times keeps him motivated. I said it was an honor to make his acquaintance.

@JohnRoberts I'm not that big a Dirty Harry fan. I prefer Eastwood's westerns.
