It Was Worth It !

Our daughter , travelled 25th evening at 8:30 , through an air conditioned bus from Manila to Legazpi City . Supposedly , she will arrive the next day at about 6:30 in the morning , however she arrived 26th evening at 8:30 in the evening . The 10 hours trip became 24 hours ! That ‘s because the places where the bus passed by, were ravaged by typhoon Nina that hit our region, 25th evening , so all the buses were stranded in some places , because the roads were still being cleared from fallen trees and debris on the roads . She kept texting me , she regretted having taken the trip and should have not gone home . So, she had her short vacation with us at home with no electricity from 26th evening to 29th afternoon . That night of the 26th we fetched her from the terminal and went straight to her favorite Chinese restaurant and had a long dinner , filled with stories and laughter . It was our birthday , Christmas and also late congratulatory treat for her passing the Medical board . The next days were spent in going to the mall for some shopping , eating out and we also went to our hometown to visit my parents and relatives . When she went back to Manila on the 29th , I saw that she posted at FB after a day , that although her trips to and from Legazpi City was a hassle , her short vacation was so worth it . It was all that we want to hear from her and we are glad she enjoyed her short vacation at home . Well, there’s no place like home , right ?

There are things that are beyond our control but to be with people you love is always worth it.

Yes, that is so true . I even walked a very long route together with other commuters after typhoon Reming that damaged a lot of roads leading to our hometown , but i endured it because i would like to see how were they also in our hometown .

Thank you . This was on one of those gloomy days . In fact today , it's so rainy , it's as if there is no Mayon at that part .

I can understand how it is better to stay home for other weather reasons but its the same if it is not good news to travel. In the picture that mountain looks like a ufo.

I think next time , she will not travel anymore if it's that way again . And we will not let her travel anymore if it's like that . It's her safety we are concerned with . Yeah , it looks like it indeed.

@Bluedoll Actually , it was her chance to come home for a short vacation . She's been wanting the past Christmases to be with us , but she can't because at that time she's still an intern at the hospital , where she is now a resident doctor . So , she knows that the typhoon is over but didn't expect that the roads hasn't been cleared much yet of the debris . No one was hurt - it's just a clearing operation so all buses can pass to their destinations .

@SIMPLYD It makes sense to stay put unless it is very important or an emergency. Was anyone hurt in that mess?

That would be disappointing trip that took 24 hours .. but indeed it's worth spending time with family .. I can't wait to see the Mayon Volcano again when we go back home next month ..

We were so happy seeing her post . We thought she regretted going home , since even in going back to Manila the bus was delayed for 5 hours on its schedule of arrival . It only shows , she really wants to be at "home" .

Yes , that is what is important . On the 28th she was able to access the internet because she went to our office during lunch time and stayed with me until we went out (i filed for undertime at 3:00) to shop . Same with the 29th . AT the office , i let our IT encode the WIFI password in her mini iPad .

I took the opportunity of bonding with her for the last time , with me treating her . That's because the next time she comes home , she said it will be her treating us in all our outings because she will soon have an allowance for being a resident doctor at the hospital where she is in.

@SIMPLYD We still treat our sons when they come home, even though they earn more than we ever will. We sometimes let them treat us to ice cream. Lol! We insist. I'm sure you will, too.
