Our snow will slow things down here

Western Oregon is not used to snow and we awoke to about an inch this morning. Schools throughout the area are closed, including the local community college. The University of Oregon usually remains open come snow or high water. Snow continues to fall as it gets light.
Main roads get sanded, but I am not sure if we even have snow plow beyond a scoop hanging on the front of a dump truck.
I agreed yesterday to fill in at work today which is normally a fifteen minute drive, but it does cross a bridge over the Willamette River, so will be slick. I am glad that I don't need to be there until 10 AM, since the morning commute will be a mess. I may here of a delayed store opening soon.
Now, I just heard that Interstate 5 is closed due to blizzard conditions on the California side of the Siskiyou (love that word) mountain pass.
I hope the weather is sunny and warm where you are.

Same here. We have already gotten the same amount of snow we usually get for an entire winter. Schools closed today and might be tomorrow.Sunny and warm? What is that?

I heard about your snow this morning, James. And Eugene just got most of the debris cleared from the last snowy go-round! Here in the Portland area most of our power outages are from the wind howling out of the Gorge. I hope you can stay warm this week, and off those slick streets!

@allknowing Well, the National Weather Service is saying we might warm up to the 40s on Sunday, but Saturday night could bring freezing rain with more downed trees and lack of electricity on some places. Next week we will warm up and have plain old rain.

This was our first snow in almost three years, so we are not at all accustomed to dealing with it. Cold temperatures continue this morning at about 9.5 (C).

@JamesHxstatic yes that is the way it is. You can drive carefully but it's the other drivers that don't slow down that case the accidents.

We've been enjoying sunny, mild weather here in Florida for the past couple of days, but we started off the new year with some strong thunderstorms. I haven't looked at the weather forecast yet, but co-workers tell me we are looking to get down into the 20's this weekend. That's very unusual for Florida.
