It runs, it drives, it has heat

We were able to get yet another car. It runs, it drives, it has heat. It needs one more thing done to it. The seller is paying the labor to have it done. . . replace the CV axles. We have them, we have an appointment with our guy that does these things.
The car is usable, so today we are catching up on the chores we have not been able to do for lack of a car. Busy day.
Is this 2000 Ford Focus perfect? No. . . it needs a little body work, but it is a four door vehicle that gets good fuel mileage. The entire engine has been re built. There are brand new tires on it. We are good to go.
So that is my good news, on this sunny day.

It gets where you are going and that is all that matters. We drive a 2000 Toyota Corolla. She ain't pretty but she works well and is very dependable.

It is awesome that it has been so recently upgraded. We will continue with repairing or disposing of the other cars as well. I just like being able to go places and do things in comfort again.

as long as it runs and gets you where you need to go,,.... Where is Marion, Kansas located?

Actually I am ten miles east of Marion, but the myLot drop down menu would not let me list Florence, Kansas. Marion is the county seat of Marion County. It is slightly east of the middle of Kansas off of highway 56. North and south it is in the middle of Kansas. I live on the edge of the region known as the Flint Hills of Kansas.

@hostessman Looking at the maps a little it is possible you would have traveled down Highway 77 if you ever went south and that goes along the east side of Marion. There is a county lake in Marion if you were into camping and fishing.

Just how many vehicles do you buy??
I wasn't getting heat again in my car. I guess the coolant was low even low the indicator light wasn't coming on except when I first started it. Now I will have to go buy another gallon I guess. I can't get ahead in money no matter how hard I try when things like this have to be bought.

You do not even want to know how many cars we buy. I told someone else that since we drive old vehicles we have to have one main car each and one spare car each to be safe since we work and shop out of town. Right now we have just this one between the two of us.

@GardenGerty I really need money to get to a mechanic that can figure out why I a losing anti-freeze and fix it.
Dollar Tree sells little bottles of anti-freeze. I've been buying those, easier for me to come up with a few dollars. I can't fill the radiator to the top. It leaks out to a certain point no matter what. I have to continue to deal with no heat in the car because of their not being enough anti-freeze in for the heater to work.

It lets both of us do our jobs better. Next trick, when it warms up, is to get the Monte Carlo back on the road.

I took my elderly sister to do her errands today, and it was nice. It was also easier for her to get in and out of the back seat as it is a four door vehicle.

Yes, as we are able. I know it sounds strange but we need to have at least four vehicles. Since we drive older cars and we both work out of town we each need a daily driver plus a spare.

I sure wish I could get a new car. I mean my car runs decently but it looks bad on one side and has electrical problems. Until I can sell my house or get a better job, I am stuck with this one I am afraid.

I hope your house sells. That usually is more likely in the spring and summer. None of our cars are really great looking, and some do have electrical problems. I am just glad to have something more reliable.

You seem to be having bad luck with cars lately. Didn't you just buy one not too long ago? I hope this one ends up working out for you!

Yes, we bought something that was hubby's "dream type" vehicle, a small SUV which will be ideal for work and car shows. We knew what problem it had, and hubby has been in the process of fixing it, but it is too cold right now, and he was spending a lot of time trying to get one bolt out on the Monte Carlo to be able to replace a part that we discovered was broken when he did a brake job. The cold weather has been a deterrent to everything.

@GardenGerty Ah I see. Yes, the cold definitely puts a damper on a lot of projects.

It has been a while since we have had any Ford, although hubby prefers them. This one has a ding or two, but it is very functional and a good dependable ride.

@GardenGerty Dependable it is. I had mine and never had problems with it. I loved the ride on that little four cylinder. And it had power as well. Felt like I was driving an 8 cylinder.

It really made my weekend. We may still car pool for a while but we do at least have something reliable and comfortable to drive and I can get to school earlier and stay later to be prepped for my duties. Less stress is always good.

Glad to hear you have reliable wheels! I have a Toyota Corolla I bought new in 2005, the first (and last) new car I've ever owned. It's still running strong after a dozen years. Looks like you picked a winner, too. 16 years is a long time for a modern car! I hope it lasts you at least another 5 years with no problems.

Our cars tend to last well, usually. The truck, which is the newest we ever bought is a different story. We mostly buy used, and cheap and then work on them and enjoy them.

Having a reliable ride is always good. My husband drives his little Ford Ranger, and I take the Dodge, Grand Caravan. His ride is 11 years old and has over 200,000 km. Mine is just 1.5 years old and has a mere 40,000 km on it.
