No Money in My Pocket!

As usual, 4PM in the clock, It's Tea break time!. Me and my colleague both were hungry and thought of going to stall. I got my wallet from my bag, and moved out of door for lift. We are on 24th floor, so it's a long journey in lift too. And then we have to pass 3 security check. So it's almost take 15-20 mins if you think of going outside for something.
We ordered and ate it!
**35mins later**
Me - How much ?
Stall Owner - $3
Me - *taking out the wallet* And checked my wallet
*Wallet was empty*
How I can carry a empty wallet and didn't checked it before purchasing something.
Thank god, we were regular customer and After telling the situation he said, pay me next time.
Does that ever happened to you ?
If Yes,How you escaped from it ?
Do you check your wallet/purse before leaving for some place ( off course women have to check for makeup 
Just Kidding! )?
How often you know the amount your have in your wallet/purse ?

I don't always carry cash, but even so - I'll have credit card just encase.
You didn't has your colleague to spot you and you'd paid them back?

Small stalls doesn't have swap machine.
We generally have word before leaving who is going to pay and that guy will take the wallet 
I did pay him back while leaving home

He is good person, But instead a good person I would say he is a good business man. Well we all know to maintain customer you have to be polite. And he knows I never ever asked him the cost whatever we order. And we always paid whatever he said- So he rarely find such customers

That would be so embrassing its a good thing you were regular customers. I usually try and check right before I go into somewhere just to make sure,lol.

No..this has thankfully never happened to me. I always check my purse for cash before i leave. It is a habit...so it works out.
I would be extremely embarrassed if it happened to me. ...i might not take what i ordered until i get the money to pay for it...maybe go home and get my purse first. But that's just me.

These days I use credit card... and I make sure it is with me and has money in it too. :)

I am not eligible for a CC, but small stalls here doesn't keep swap machine. I had Debit Card but since I work in bank, I had to cross 3 security checks for ATM machines which are on First floor
