Gaming's Dark Side: The Illusive SuperCity Hack

The electronic movement, as of late, has been lacking some luster and the same “butterflies in my belly” anticipation when a new game is being released. More often than not, “the hype” is what ends up choking out a game, movie, CD or book. You see the commercials, watch the trailers or blindly take the recommendation of a reviewer that's probably getting paid for a few extra stars.
I came across SuperCity by accident; I was on Facebook looking for a city simulator from 'way back when” called SIM City from Maxis. I tried out SuperCity and (hanging my head in shame) fell in love with it. I knew from having played other games on Facebook that there were things sold at the site to get you further in the game. Unless you have played games online like this, you won't understand how frustrating it can get.
But wait dear readers … you don't have to spend money to buy lives, boosters, energy, weapons or whatever else is used in a game. What am I talking about? Cheat codes, hacks, cheat engines, mods and other ways to speed up a game, obtain endless lives or anything else that people who have found hidden in the game code.
For SuperCity, there are TONS of cheat sites available. The downside is that none of them work. Some hve downloads, others show you how to change parameters and setting on your computer. Every time you try one of these sites you never know what the outcome will be.
“Free” and “No Survey” are the two things you'll see in most titles when you are looking for cheat codes. At this point, there's no way for me to progress and further in the game unless I buy Superbucks. I am at level 45 and have some great building but there are people at level 30 that have massive cities and have started building in other lands. That's just insane because a plot of land can cost upwards of 55K coins.
So, it's apparent that there are cheat codes out there and people are using them but the fake codes and scams are the ones that float to the surface on search engines. I spent my downtime over the past three days looking high and low for codes that actually work. Before that could happen I had to find a site that didn't have the super annoying “to prove you are not a robot” shtick – most of the time it's LifeScript and 20+ pages of 'offers'. I have never, ever gotten anything from all of the surveys I filled out.
To make it worse, some sites will tell you (your computer) that the download is complete and “click here to validate”. Don't start high-fiving yourself just yet, when you try to get the key, password or whatever they are using to lure you in “most of these only take 45 seconds to complete” and click on an offer only to realize you've been “Commercially Catfished”
So where is the code or cheat that everyone is using? Is it so well hidden that only a handful of players are granted access to it? Even though I try to avoid cheats and hacks, there's no way to get deeper into the game without spending money or using codes. Supercity isn't a difficult game but it can suck time right off the face of a clock. It's fun and entertaining until things get expensive and most definitely out of reach of someone like me that refuses to pay money for cheat codes.
