"How much is that doggie at the window?"

Those days we had this craze for pedigree dogs. We went in search and finally landed at a place where they were selling Dalmatian puppies. We spotted one and they told me it was being sold at half the normal rate as it had a defect. We hesitated. Then they told us what the defect was. They said this puppy had a black patch on one of the ears which meant he would not stand a chance at winning any of those contests.
We wanted a pet and that's it - patch or no patch. We bought that cuddly thing and we name him Robo. We had the joy of his companionship just for ten and a half years as he developed a bump on one of the leg joints that did not heal. We had the best Vet around but we lost him to that bump.
Robo was a big dog and since he had to be lifted around during the last few days - it was a difficult task - we decided never to go for a large sized dog. We got our Bull Terrier and about him in another post.

Dalmatians are beautiful. I'm sorry for your loss. I am partial to english bull dogs but I will always go after adopting a dog instead of just buying one. I don't care what kind of dog it is. adopting is the best thing to do.

I am with you on this. We have given up on pedigree dogs and advocate strays. Preiti is a stray

@DesirousDreamer She is more than a pedigree when it comes to her behaviour. A perfect lady by all standards.

Our pet was far from demanding. He was the most laid back dog. The only snag was when we had to lift him around. when he was ill

@allknowing There are not many pets that live anything like human years. Turtles and cockatoos are about the only ones. So pet-owners are nearly always going to lose a companion or two along the way.
