Figs Yesterday, Peaches Today

We must have been nice to a fruit tree lately because we've now been given a bowl of lovely peaches. Yesterday it was figs. So I think karma is taking a hand here. That's how it works, isn't it?
A friend brought these round today. She said they are so juicy you need to eat them over the sink (kitchen bowl). She is right. They are delicious. While she and her husband were here we made arrangements to go to the first of the Summer Film Festival films. It's called Girl Asleep. Has anyone seen it?
And other noteworthy news is that I cooked scones for afternoon tea. We had them with butter and jam and they weren't half nice if I do say so myself.

@AbbyGreenhill I doubt they are sold too often. I don't think they keep well, being transported etc.

I had a friend bring me a bowl of pears recently. It's been years since I've eaten pears! I enjoyed one this morning, and it was really delicious.
Can't say that I've heard of the film Girl Asleep. Hope it is a good one!

@JudyEv I saw your posts about picking up the caravan, plus the other troubles you were having with your car. I hope everything worked out well for you in the end.

@moffittjc We've just picked the car up today and hopefully we're set to go now. We need to ring the owner of 'our' caravan, Murrie. His wife is quite ill and possibly has to have a pacemaker but she has other problems as well. He has been up and down from Augusta to Perth (about 4 hours drive) so we need to coordinate with him to find a good time to pick it up. We're hoping maybe tomorrow afternoon or Friday.

Scones are a bit like bread I guess. You rub a small amount of butter into self-raising flour, mix in enough milk for a soft dough then cut it into rounds and cook. Then you can split them and have them with butter/jam/cream or some other spread.

We have months and months to wait before we will have trees bearing fruit....in fact, before there is anything bearing fruit.
Maple syrup would be the first tree crop of the year....and that will be starting in another month or so....depending on the weather. Today we are starting the day at 12C, tomorrow's high is -3C. I do wish the at her would make up its mind.

What fruits are grown in your area? I guess it is too cold for some fruits.

@Morleyhunt In that case, it sounds very similar to our area. We have all of those and lots of vineyards too.

These are too good to cook. And we're not able to go to the movie now but we should get to see the rest of the Festival.

Vince had fresh fruit for breakfast instead of his usual toast. It's pretty good. :)

Those peach trees must smell amazing when blooming. We can't grow a lot of fruit up here. Apples, grapes and some varities of wild fruits such as wild plum, wild cherry, choke cherry... what a treat to grow your own fruit I imagine

We don't have fruit trees but there are plenty of people who do - and there are lots of orchards here too.
