2007 – Small Axe and Mammoth Books – spoiler alerts A rather sad horror tale, about the poor narrator’s alienation after volunteering for medical experiments leaves him hideously disfigured. He is so ugly that the sight of him makes people ill and he becomes a social pariah, and intensely lonely. His isolationism saves him initially when the zombies wipe out most of humanity, but in loneliness fuelled suicidal despair he runs out to deliberately get himself bitten by the undead only to find that even they shun him as too revolting and unpalatable to go near. They run away from him. Grizzly and silly but fun too. Arthur Chappell

@DianneN I took that photo at a charity zombie walk parade I was in a few years back in Manchester - some zombies there had incredible make up
