Picking up our caravan today - we hope

There always seem to be a period of adjustment when you change cars. We've recently sold our standard sedan and bought a second-hand four-wheel drive BMW. We are also going to sell our bus/motorhome and replace it with a caravan which we have already purchased. We've had electric brakes fitted to the BMW to help with towing the caravan which we are supposed to pick up tomorrow.
On Sunday evening we're responsible for running concert at a tiny country church who has been deconsecrated. Something is wrong with the electrics in the car and we have no brake lights. We look my Hyundai Excel out to the church this evening with much of the gear that we need out there.
Early tomorrow we'll take the BMW to the auto electricians so he can hopefully fix the brake lights. Then we'll go two hours south to pick up the caravan, two hours home again then go out to the church towing the car trailer with a generator and lights. We'll set them up and test them then lock them up in the church till the concert on Sunday. It's all getting bit tight so hopefully nothing else will go wrong.

Nothing like a little last minute stress. Hope it all works out.

Not going too well at the moment! We haven't been able to get the car fixed yet.

Hm, I wonder if the addition of the electric brakes messed with the car somehow--seems likely. Hope you get it fixed with no problems, and should be done for free if it was a result of the earlier work!

@JudyEv are you going to do some work to customize the inside?

@Jessicalynnt We need to install a battery somewhere so we can have lights when we're not at a caravan park. Vince will be able to do that himself but otherwise it is all quite nicely done.

Your photo brought a smile to my face, as my aunt and uncle have almost that exact same model! I've stayed in it several times when we've gone camping or traveling, and it is quite comfortable! I hope you enjoy it!

@JudyEv When it comes to RV vehicles, sometimes older is better. Here is seems like ones made back in the 60's and 70's are starting to become very popular again, and people are buying them like crazy and fixing them up to modern standards. Maybe it's just that nostalgic feeling they bring, or maybe they were just built better back then! Anyway, I hope you get at least 10 more good years out of your caravan!

Thanks, I'm sure we will. It has good clearance so we'll be able to go moderately off-road in it. As off-road as we want to anyway. It isn't as heavy as some either which is good. And although it is 10 years old the model has very good reviews.

@moffittjc Thanks for the good vibes. We're having major problems with the wiring at the moment. I'm not sure what's going on. And it is so hard to access the wiring. It seems to be all buried deep in the walls etc. But we're working on it and will get there in the long run. And you're right I think. There isn't any built-in obsolescence with these older vans. The wiring issues have occurred later.

@nitirrbb7 We're just off to cut down a couple of trees but we're starting with some that are a bit too close to some power lines. We are expected to keep trees on our property away from power lines so we'll do these first.

They are still trying to work out what the problem is but it is beginning to look costly.

Thanks. Sometimes it seems we're lurching from one hiccup to the next. 'Lurch' and 'hiccup' go quite well together, don't they?
