Cats As Objects

I was doing some work around the house and later sat down by my PC. I have another old PC that sits on a desk beside the one I work on and on that PC I put on music videos or old movies or TV shows to keep me company while I work and also for inspiration. Today my cat Sid decided he wanted to keep me company as well. Either that or he enjoyed what I was watching. One way or another he lay down on the desk beside the PC. When I looked over at him he was deep in dreamland. This reminded me of what a friend of mine once said.
Throughout his life my friend always had three cats. One day he told me that cats could be looked upon as objects. I looked at him and said, Say, what?” He laughed and said to just think about it. You look over at a shelf and see books, vases and one or two cats or look over at a chair and see a pillow on top of which a cat is sleeping. All of these things mentioned are objects including the cats. I thought about it and it sort of made sense to me. When we are not interacting or loving our cats they are objects because all they seem to do it lie around and sleep.
One time he told me a very amusing story. He was doing housework and was in the process of dusting. He said he would dust one shelf and when he came to the next shelf he would pick up a cat, place it on the shelf he had just dusted and would continue to do his housework. The cat didn’t even wake up. So at present my object or cat or Sid is not bothered at all by the movie I have on and won’t think about moving unless he has to make a late night run in the garden or suddenly becomes hungry. The photo is of Sid on the dresser.
Do your cats lie around in all kinds of odd places?

Cat seem to love finding the oddest sometimes most awkward places to sleep.
