Because of some challenging behaviors that prevent or slow down learning, we offer various incentives to the students. Tomorrow we will go swimming, provided A________ has a good morning, and lunch. I know it is an incentive for ME to behave well, so I get to go with her.

Oh, yes. It is a great time and way to help this young lady be more active, and learn about keeping clean and all kinds of social skills. The teacher feels it is a reward for the paraprofessional (me) as well.

Certain incentives would work well with me too.

I hope that the pool in indoor and the water warm enough, the only idea to go swimming makes me sick.

Yes, the aquatics center is indoors and the pool felt really good. It was warm and the showers were warm.

Yes, this is set up so area schools can have swim teams and the community can purchase memberships to swim at certain hours. Like a YMCA.

Yes, we went. Had to give her a warning in the morning. Her class was watching the inaugaration, she was sleeping. The teacher told her that was not following school rules. She was wide awake and happy to swim It provides opportunity to help her with some of her social skills when we do things like that.

Sometimes, if they can focus on it and the delay of gratification. It can be a really big deal.

I have collected a lot of cute images. I am ready for a summery beach day. However we will swim at an aquatics center.

I did not mean to be puzzling. I had some typos and did not read. I have a student, actually more than one, who have a hard time following rules. Sometimes, weather permitting, and health permitting, we reward them by taking them swimming at the school aquatic center.

Incentives can really make a huge difference for some. We wondered if some children we dealt with expressed inappropriate behavior because they really did not want have an appreciation for the reward.

Sometimes, yes, the reward lacks meaning for the student. I think there are other things that come into play, though, like fear of being disappointed or just over excitability. We are constantly looking for meaningful ways to enhance learning in a positive way. For instance, this young lady does not know how to dress herself well and needs practical life skills about cleanliness, and more exercise as well. She gets all of that in a relaxed way when we swim.

@teresatrotter I did not proof read. It is "learning" not "earnings". Guess which mylotter was tired when she posted.
