I think it depends on where you live because here mixed gender friendship is not frowned upon. I always had more friends that are boys than girls and my best friends are boys except for one girl. It isnt a bad thing. I dont think friendships should be based on gender, just caracter.

I totally understand I always had trouble with girls as friends and I also grew up as the only girl in my family so it was natural to be around boys. As the saying goes there will be trouble ahead. However mixed gender friendships can work very well. Stereotyping will always remain though. I am in the United Kingdom and we have no problems with mixed gender friendships but culture, religion etc does play a role.

Is it true that the entire world looks at mixed friendships as bad? My best friend is male.He is like a brother for me. We met at work many years ago and never a week goes by without meeting up for coffee somewhere.
