Inauguration Night 2017

I have had really mixed feelings about posting about the inauguration as I don't mean to upset anyone. I have friends on both sides of the political fence and it seems this election, more-so than most has people up in arms, which I don't like to see.
I did not want Trump, nor did I want Clinton. I thought that if ever one of the third part candidates had a chance it would have been this year, based on the amount of people who didn't like either of them. I guess not though.
It appears that Trump is having a hard time attracting A list celebrities to perform at his inauguration. This too makes me feel mixed. I realize that it may be hard to celebrate Trump's shindig, however, to me at least - this is about more than liking or disliking Trump as a person - it's about celebrating the 45th President, even if that person is someone we may or may not care for. Of course on the other hand, I commend those celebrities for dropping out - this is a prestigious gig - and if they are sticking to what they feel is right at the risk of missing a once in a lifetime gig - then that is impressive.
I am sorry to those of you who appreciate Trump -- I simply don't, and think there would have been many other great candidates for the Republican party. However - that said - I do hope he does well in office.
I am still hesitating posting this, but I think the wonderful folks I've come to know here on My Lot are going to be fine with my opinion and with voicing their own if it agrees with me, or not is fine as long as we all remain friends.

I am not watching the ceremony or even listening to NPR today. I find nothing to celebrate about this 45the President at all and only hope that the Republic can survive the damage he is talking about doing. I am glad that he ended up with mostly third rate talent and that the major bands had the conviction to turn down this big gig.

I find that sort of conviction amazing.... to turn down a gig of this nature, -- good for them for not selling out

@FayeHazel Yes! I just watched Ashley Judd on FB give a fiery speech at the DC Women's March. She offended many conservatives I'm sure but I loved it.
