I feel so old...

So, I joined this new group and it didn't take me very long to figure out how to use the chat page. And then today I actually joined in on a vocal chat and turned my mute button on when I was using my mixer to mash the potatoes so I could hear them but they couldn't hear me. Well then later tonight I find myself in the group's Snapchat page where they are all sending filtered snaps. One of them called me out for lurking and not participating. I typed a message confessing that I have never been able to figure out how to use the filters. She snapped me back and in the short period of time she had to explain it was really only an explanation as to how to take a picture. Well, I know how to do that! I freaking had to google how to use Snapchat filters! Even when I did it, nothing was happening. I feel so old. When the filters FINALLY did show up after 3 or 4 tries, they took forever to download. But I finally figured it out... a little too late for tonight's snap session. Now that I have that figured out, someone is going to come along with another new technology that's going to throw me off. I feel so out of the loop.

I joined Snapchat this past summer and it took some getting used to. My 12yr old niece has one to talk to her cousins, and she had to get used to it too. The app itself is just different from other apps. As for the group member, she should have asked you about it instead of trying to call you out for it.

Honestly, I don't mind her calling me out for it. She had bunny face and squeaky voice so it was all in good fun. The problem with Snapchat is there are no instructions anywhere on there as to how to find the filters.

@patgalca Oooh, sorry, I didn't mean to be so "grrrr" about that then. Yeah, it's hard. If you want the bunny face and all, you have to like, hold the screen or something? If you want, I'll see if I can find a site for it and send it to you via message because I'm not always good with explaining things.

@tammys85 It's okay, Tammy, I sent my first Snapchat video to the group tonight. I got a big laugh from everyone.

Life and the ever so advanced technology. I have to be updated to keep up with my son. I don't want to be left behind. Not because I just want to be in or updated but I believe that I could be a better parent if I knew these things.

I ask my daughters to show me this stuff. My 23 year old is reluctant or says, if I ask a question about a problem, "I don't own the company. How would I know?" On the other hand, my younger daughter is always willing to help me out and can usually figure stuff out for me. But alas, she is away at university. I was sitting her by myself trying to figure it out.

@patgalca there are sites you can visit that can help you pretty fast. There's YouTube and Pinterest has everything.

@toniganzon I never thought of YouTube. I've been trying to figure these filters out for ages and tonight was the first time I even thought of googling the instructions.

It's not a matter to be young or old, when we have to figure out how something works it always takes a bit of time.
