No, not Steve Martin! I did see him in concert right after that album came out, though (wow, that was forty years ago next month! Dang, he's old!
). This is another kind of small.
Someone posted a discussion asking what electronic devices we use on a daily basis. As I sit here at lunch, typing on an iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard, I thought about that question...and how things have changed so much over the years.
I currently have two "tower" PCs sitting in my office at home. I have to pull things off of them and put them on an external hard drive before I give them to my brother (who said he wants a Windows XP or Windows 7 computer). I haven't used a "tower" PC at home in nearly two years, since I got my Mac. And that's a Macbook laptop. I do have a Windows laptop that I keep updated, just in case I need it for work (we use Windows at work). So my computer has gone from a 20" tall "tower" with monitor and all these peripherals to an iPad.
Let's get small.
Then there's the old stereo. I had a tuner, turntable, two dual cassette decks, a CD player, and a CD recorder...oh, and an equalizer. I'd make CDs for the player in my car (because I didn't want to expose the "original" CD to the heat, or I ripped something from vinyl). Now? Pop the CD into the CD player on the Mac and put it on the iPod. My iPod currently has about 8,600 songs on it. That's a lot easier to carry than 4,300 CDs (assuming each CD had 20 songs on it).
Let's get small!
Now, while I do watch Tiny House Living all the time, I'm not going there!

From Steve Martin's Grammy Award winning album, "Let's Get Small". And check out his book, "Born Standing Up", it's a fantastic look at his years doing stand...

I had Let's Get Small on vinyl when I was a kid. My first comedy album. Now I really feel old.

My first comedy album was The First Family by Vaughn Meader. And I had that entire album memorized, with a great vigor! (I will still occasionally use "the rubber swan is mine" line when appropriate.)

I love his music. He's a great banjo player. Of course, you have to like banjo to care about that...

I remember that Steve Martin bit like it was yesterday. Wow, it is a long time ago. As for getting small in our electronic world, I still have my iMac which I love. And thinking about getting another one. But I have also been thinking about a Macbook as well. I have an iPad and a wireless keyboard. But I always find myself coming to my iMac to do all my online stuff. Maybe it is a mind thing.
