Hey lotters, Have you ever heard of this academic field Comparative Literature? It deals with the study of literature and cultural expression across linguistic, national, and disciplinary boundaries. It is a very broad humanities area. Do you know any comparativists/comparatists? Have you ever met such specialists in your life? It is a broad discipline as a whole. Comparative Literature has got its interdisciplinary nature. All spheres of human activity are presented in it, including literature itself, history, politics, philosophy, art and science. Comparativists/comparatists are typically acquainted with sociology, history, anthropology, translation studies, critical theory, and religious studies. Comparative Literature is the study of "literature without borders". Comparative Literature is presented in university programs in a lot of universities worldwide. It is globally accepted. Locally viewed, Comparative Literature Studies Departments/Programs have got specific national-based features. There are various Comparative Literature Schools throughout the world. Current developments, and especially a movement among comparativists/comparatists in the US and elsewhere claim to re-focus the discipline away from the nation-based approach with which it has previously been associated towards a cross-cultural approach that pays no heed to national borders. While in the West Comparative Literature is experiencing institutional constriction, there are signs that in many parts of the world the discipline is thriving, especially in Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. Comparative Literature Studies have got their past, present and future. It is a fruitful soil for doing research in the field of humanities.
