It is time to try again

Last fall I made a very halfhearted attempt to potty train my 3 year old son. He had a few successes, but it only lasted a short time. Tomorrow, we will stay at home(against his wishes), and we will give it another go. I know he understands the concept, but getting him to stop and go when he needs to will be our challenge. I am really tired of diapers(I have had at least one child in diapers for almost 6 years now), and I know he will get it.

I think it is better to remind him through out the day if he needs to go, perhaps he is too scared to say that he has to go. I know I was and I had to wear pullups until I was 4 because I was too nervous and I couldn't be potty trained properly because I hated my mother being there. I hope the best of luck for you. Try not to give up, even if he doesn't like it.

He doesn't like pullups or real underwear, but I can get them on him. He also has access to a small training potty that I keep on our main floor(our only bathroom is on the second level).

@Morethanamom I had to just deal with Haha! I didn't like them either but my mom would give my treats and such if I keep mine on and if I went to the bathroom in the potty. I had the training potty too and I could not have my mom in the bathroom with me, I had her stand outside. Stage fright man haha

Yes, he will surely get it. I can understand it'd be easier for us to go without diapers and that they can go to toilet on their own. Now I am waiting for my youngest one to go diaper free... though it'll still take some time as he's only 8 months old now.

I have five children. Potty training success times six. My granddaughter Sandra was starting to use the potty. I'm not horribly concerned if there are some accidents. After three days of no accidents....I'm not a fan of pull ups, except for going out or night time. No one was in diapers by their third birthday.

I know he will get it. My oldest was almost 4 before she got it, than my second potty trained just after she turned 3. My youngest turned 3 last August.
