My Grandmother Got Scammed!

This has me very upset, for her and my own personal reasons.
My husband and I were out buying a few things for our daughter, and my grandmother was at home. Someone called her, pretending to be someone from a company to lower credit card interest rates. She said that they sounded legitimate and they gave her a number to call back. She called back and it turned out to be a bank, and they had never heard of this program before nor are they even able to lower interest rates for other credit cards out of their company.
My husband and I came home to her canceling all of her credit cards, bank accounts, and more. She called the credit bureau and they were able to help put a password on her social so if anyone tries to use it they will need the password.
This is very upsetting to say the least!
My husband and I are taking over the business that she owns so she can retire and move to Oregon. It's a personal care home for the mentally challenged, and almost everything is in her name right now with all of her other information including our car. It's very scary to think that this person who got all of her information is going to cause problems for us once she's gone because we're also finishing paying off her debt for the next couple years as well.
We called the police so they could go through the phone records, but they claimed that there's not really much they can do as of right now which is understandable but still frustrating.
Needless to say, it's a waiting game. We are all very tired, and nervous about what might happen at the last minute.

It shouldn't have to be this way. I will never understand why people think it's okay to do this!

I hope and pray that she took action quickly enough to prevent any damages from theft. It certainly seems as if she acted on it fairly quickly. This day and age it's so easy to get scammed. There's always someone looking to cheat people out of their money, identity, etc. I really hope everything works out ok for you.. xx

She closed everything that same night, and the bank accounts were closed the very next morning when they opened. Needless to say, they can still order credit cards and things in her name which is very scary, but we'll handle it the best we can. I just hope nothing too dramatic happens, either.
Thank you very much. It is highly appreciated.

Agreed! I think it's downright pathetic how people can do this to others.
