Coke: Is it really that harmful?

Soft drinks are harmful to our health and this is nothing new to anyone. Just as it's not new that coke is poorly rated refrigerant (in a world scale, I guess) and these bad evaluations are structured in several scientific articles and chemical demonstrations (which reinforces the whole negative side).
But the question is: Does coke do so much harm? If it really does, why is it still being sold on such a large scale? It's so contradictory to me.
By the way, do you like/drink coke?

Coke is one of my favourite drinks but I don't drink it so often. I think it's bad for health only if you drink it many times in a day or almost everyday. Just once in a while it's just refreshing :)

@GegeTheMechanic Yeah. The excess is the big problem.

It is a terrible product that should be limited in use. Frightening to those of us with some knowledge to see children drinking this and other such beverages on a regular basis.

@PatZAnthony In the case of children, I think the limitation has to come from the parents. Don't you think?

@TheInvisibleMan I agree. Limit kids to about five Cokes a day, I say!

It is concentrated sugar. It has no nutritional value. Unfortunately, it also has a nice taste. I have it once in awhile.

If you drink coke day and night then sure, it will do harm, like damage your stomach lining. Anything in excess causes harm, not just coke. But if drunk now and then, I'm sure it's fine. At least I don't see anything worse happening to people apart from catching an occasional cold.

I drink a coke every day.
I'm sure it's not great for me, but it sure does taste good.
If I quit eating and drinking everything they say is bad for me - I'd starve!
