Going Back to Algebra

Last Monday I looked for my son's Math book to review Algebra. Math is my nemesis, and I remembered I had a very hard time with it in high school and college. I like to know if I can easily solve now those algebraic equations like finding the value of X or Y in a given equation. I want to prove that it is such an easy thing. I know one of our friends here, Erly Maglangit, a Math expert and a PhD at that finds Math a very easy subject. Do you also challenge yourself sometimes?

It's my favorite subject when I was in high school but I can't solve it now

I have no problem with basic Math but I hate it when it gets complicated.

I agree, basic Math is easy, but hard when there are complicated problems or equations.

I do, but not particularly with maths - I like to solve logic problems and brain teasers.

I taught algebra in school, even though I prefer literature more. I'm always working on crosswords, brain teasers, etc. in my free time. Best of luck reviewing your son's math book. Now, I'd rather eat dirt than do algebra.

@acelawrites It starts off easy, but gets so darn complicated!

I just wanted to challenge myself;I would be very happy when I master it and solve those equations I found so hard during my student days.

I'm still in school, so that's pretty challenging! I loved algebra, but calculus is working it's way into becoming my favorite math.

So you like Calculus; that's nice. It is one of my "fears" in college; also some Physics problems.

@acelawrites Calculus and physics go pretty well together. At least the basics.

There are many challenges we can pick from that will help us stay sharp! Math, puzzles, anything to job memory seems to be a good idea.

I agree with you, I only wanted to prove to myself that I can solve such Math equations which I could not do during my student days.

Sometimes I do. I'm more an 'English and literature' person than a maths buff although I did quite enjoy algebra at school.

English and Literature are also my favorites, but not Math. I envy people who are both good at English and Math.
