Your dad was a very good artist. How big is the original painting? How long did it take him to finish the work?

@teresatrotter great that he is still painting. My mom did some nice paintings in her 60's. She is now in her late 70's and no longer paints. Alzheimer's stole that desire from her.

It was a 20" x 24" size painting... He is a pretty fast artist. Most of his paintings just took a couple of days, if he kept on it. Sometimes a little longer, sometimes he would complete one in just a days time. It just depended upon his schedule. He is still alive. He is in his middle 80's... He just does religious paintings now though...

Yeah... This one might have been, but a lot of his work was not so simple. He had the most steady hand I had ever seen on someone. He could paint in a straight line some of the most delicate lines of a ship, tree, or house...etc.
I have hundred's of paintings that he did, that I will eventually share. Not sure if you saw the ones I shared when I first signed up for myLot. I wish myLot would allow us to group our posts. It would make it easier for people to find particular posts that we write.

@teresatrotter I imagine the work must have been very minimalist.

@TheInvisibleMan - Minimalist??? Not sure what you are saying? When you see the originals, noone would call him a minimalist. Unless I am misunderstanding your interpretation.

It was a very unique sight back then. And some I imagine were afraid to go up in one, and the others found it thrilling!
