i was reading a topic about mail-and it reminded me about our first cat,and the door mail slot. for years,we got our mail in peace through the slot (except for too big stuff) and didn't think anything of it.and it was nice not having to open the door when it's cold..it was right there on the rug for us. then there was jake. this cat decided at about a year old,all mail must die. it's an attacker..coming thru the door. my mailman told me on occasion he could feel him tugging at it as he put it in the hole. so now,we have a mailbox..so much for the door slot. i'd have expected that from a dog,but not a cat. he was always a lil weirdo..

That is funny! We had a small sized poodle when we had an opening in the door to get our mail. He would just go over and sniff the mail when it was on the floor.

I remember the first house I lived in we had one of those mail slots and I thought they were so neat. My boyfriends puppy chews up paperand I told his son he may have the real excuse that his dog ate his homework ha ha ha

I can see that happening. Good idea getting a regular mailbox.

There is just no accounting for some of the things our pets do, is there?

Cats do the darndest things. Perhaps the mail looked like toys?
