So I mentioned that my daughter has a new uniform which includes very, VERY stiff "blouses". I didn't realize she had to wear them to classroom training. Washing them using fabric softener has not helped lessen the stiffening. She is developing a rash on her neck from the chafing of the stiff collar. Does ANYONE have any idea how to take such stiffness out of a seemingly heavily starched collar?

Have you tried washing it using vinegar instead of fabric softener? It won't smell like it when dried, but it can help remove whatever has starched the collar.

I wash all whites with vinegar, so that didn't help. Maybe if I used more.

Would soaking it for a while help?

I talked to my daughter tonight and she said she put baby powder on her neck today and it didn't bother her as much. She was only give two shirts so is washing them, like, every night.

@JudyEv I don't hear her complaining anymore. I saw her when she arrived home yesterday... the first time I saw her in her new uniform. Wish I could take a picture but she won't let me. I still don't have one of her in her WestJet uniform.

@patgalca If they are getting washed so often they should soften in time.
