the bus driver who left his oven on

Once upon a time, somewhere in rural England, a bus driver speedily drove his bus down country lanes. The passengers were slip-sliding around on the posh leather-ish seats. They trembled with fright. Can you see them trembling, little one?
Why, oh why, was the bus driver going so fast? Had he left his oven on? No. Was his bath overfilling? No. Is his wife in labour? No. Does he have a train to catch? No.
I see you shaking your head, little one. Shall we turn the page and find out why the bus driver drives so fast?
Oh, look! It's because he's an Idiot Boy Racer! Look at his miserable face!
The End.
{this is partially true ... he isn't actually speeding, but he's confident enough in his driving skills to go at the top end of his limit and take corners without slowing much ... I am the only passenger trembling, and my thighs are getting a thoroughly good workout as they keep me attached to this seat!}

@poppylicious It is indeed unnerving when a bus driver rattles along faster than he otherwise might. It makes me feel most vulnerable, especially late at night or early in the morning when the roads are empty. I think I might be a control freak when it comes to driving.

I'm a control freak about driving. And I don't even drive. :)

I'm definitely with @xFiacre on this one. When it comes to driving i'm the ultimate control freak. I just don't feel comfortable placing my safety in the hands of anyone else.
I particularly hate the transfer from airport to hotel on holiday. Quite often the wrong side of the road, narrow roads, steep embankments. I'm getting hot sweats just thinking about it.

As a non-driver I have no control, ever. I doubt I'd even trust myself if I drove.

I do hate those slippery leather seats in buses. In cold weather, they are less than welcoming and in warm weather they make one's behind sweat and when the bus takes a corner or stops suddenly everything slides about and falls off. Give me the old type with a pile (and the maze-like patterns which used to fascinate my young mind on long bus journeys).

I am quite sure that they're a health and safety risk. I like the new buses for the weefee, but the old ones for the seats. Unfortunately I get the impression they're replacing all the old buses with the newer ones. Good for weefee, but not for my nerves!

Yep. Husband is a really safe driver. He knows his car well and doesn't take risks. Other drivers scare me silly, especially lorry drivers and young men who think they're invincible.

@Poppylicious Also my husband is a safe driver, but I am scared by those big trucks and double deck buses that speed like crazy.
