Face Book yard sales

Do any of you sell on the Face Book local yard sales? I've sold a few things, actually I'm waiting right now for a woman to pick up a jewelry armoire. The kids gave us a new TV for Christmas, so I put our old one (but still in great condition) on the yard sale. Lots of people wanted it, but of course I had to go with the first person who wanted it. Well, she lived an hour away, back and forth through messenger, texts, but she never would call me. We hung around, thinking we'd meet her about 30 minutes away, finally just told her to forget it. There's another woman who is SUPPOSED to come this afternoon to buy it. I've seen this before and I always say to myself, "Why in the world do you believe what people tell you?" It seems that once they commit to buy the item, they don't care when or how they pick it up or pay for it. Very frustrating. Well, since I started this post, the lady came to buy the armoire at the time she said she would. Restores my faith. A little. Photo by Pixabay

I've been using FB yard sale groups to sell things for over a year - I got rid of a ton of stuff including, seriously, the kitchen sink. Only two or three times has someone not shown up. Some take thier sweet time and change their minds a few times but eventually buy and pick up the item. People are what they are and you either h it or stop selling this way - it is frustrating but it's a 'free' way to sell stuff so it's worth a little aggravation I think.

You're right in that there's a fee to sell on ebay and this is free. But I guess I expect people to be like I am when I buy something.

That's got to be frustrating when they renege on the agreement.

I have never done this and frankly I am not enamored of having strangers come to my home even though we are in a gated communit.

This happens here too. We have sold quite a bit through our local FB Buy and Sell site. Some people are very blase though about arrangements.

I've joined a couple, or added to by friends. I haven't used them yet. It is frustrating that people don't keep their appointments.

The local group is Reno County Buy Sell Trade that I use but I also belong to one that has garage sale in the title and another buy sell trade. I've had some luck selling, about 50/50. I need to list a lot more stuff because I need money.

Many people seem to do this. We belong to several such groups.

No reason for me to do so because here in Latvia no one would react. It is unfortunate because I have lots of things I could sell. Just not something people here are into.

I have never used it, but it is interesting to learn more about it. I hope the lady fully commits! That is the risk of dealing with people and selling things. Not always easy.

You also have to be careful if people come to your house or if you meet them somewhere.

She will probably show up - but in her own time.

I just don't understand why people think that once they commit to buying something, they can then just take their time.
