Does myLot have a "secure connection?"

Next to the search bar at the top of my screen, there is a little lock symbol. It is normally green and I don't notice it. I have been on this site for over a year now and had not noticed until this week that when I am on myLot, the little lock is gray with a slash line (/) through it. When I click on the little lock, a note appears that says "Connection is not secure," and "logins on this page could be compromised." Has anyone else noticed this or do I have a glitch of some kind?

We do not have a secure connection here, but it's not very important for this kind of site.

@JamesHxstatic I will ask him if they plan to switch to a secure connection in the future.

I don't know enough to understand what it means. I think that Bugs is being contacted for more info.

No there is no security on the site, the site doesn't have an https which would make the site secure.

@JamesHxstatic That is strange, having https is better, I have it on two of my website and will be adding it to my others in time. It brings in my traffic, people feel safer with having https on a website. Just wonder if people don't go to these sites, does that mean they don't use Twitter, Amazon, FaceBook, PayPal and so on.

@kevin1877uk Good question. It makes it all more confusing for me.

Funny that some seem to say that they stay away from sites that do have that.

I try to stay away from https sites and I don;t see that slash here--have you asked the powers that be about it?

Honestly I don't know what you are talking about. I do not see any lock icon near the search bar here on MyLot. Maybe a screenshot would help.

I didn't think it was a secure site, wonder if it ever will be? What do they need to do to make it secure?

On my own websites, I requested it from my hosting provider which cost $15 per year for each site you have. It takes a matter of minutes on your part and a little longer on the hosting provider side of things, then you are good for a year. It gives better level of security for the website which is always good :)

Just following up on this. I was assured that although Mylot does not use https, all of your data is secure.

Oh I have the same little slash! I Hadn't noticed it until your post caused me to look for it. There have been some other glitches on the site today--hard for many to post pictures on comments, for example. Not sure what's up. Is this a case for bugs? Or @GoAskAlice or @GoAskAlex?

My symbol is grey too but it doesn't have a slash through it. I'm off to read the comments.

It is not a glitch, mylot is an http only site. It is not bad as https tends to slow down connections, and myLot is already not a fast site.
